This particular project had an interesting journey. We originally obtained planning consent for the build during the lockdown period. When the client, Peter, decided to move forward a few years later, he gathered several quotes and was incredibly close to appointing a well-known rogue builder. Fortunately, he re-engaged with our team just in time, allowing us to step in and save him from a potentially disastrous experience.

From an engineering and construction perspective, the property presented a common Kingston challenge: limited ridge height. To achieve the necessary headroom required for building compliance, our surveyor, Deepak, designed a plan to lower the entire first-floor ceiling by 300mm. Our construction teams executed this complex structural modification flawlessly, managing to lower the floorspace whilst minimising disruption to the living quarters directly below.

The project couldn’t have gone better. We delivered an amazing, high-quality living space that has completely transformed how the family lives. The client is absolutely delighted, and the new room has even earned a special nickname from Peter’s son, who lovingly calls their beautiful, light-filled new loft “the cloud.”
